Require Asian American History in Wisconsin Public Schools

Require Asian American History in Wisconsin Public Schools
Why this petition matters

Our goal is to educate students about a historically discriminated and overlooked minority group in the United States by teaching Asian American history, culture, and contributions in Wisconsin public schools.
Asian Americans have long been a part of American history but were largely left out of mainstream American culture. During World War II, Japanese Americans were sent into internment camps solely based on their ethnicity. The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 banned immigration of Chinese workers for nearly 60 years. In recent times, Asian Americans became the target of increased hate crimes since the pandemic hit.
Through early education and awareness, we can fight against racial discrimination and ignorance as well as creating a safe and supportive environment for Asian American children. Asian American history is American history.
