Why this petition matters

Started by Bob Creighton

The Grier property in Huntersville has applied for permission to develop 78 single family homes in a development to be called Montevue.  The preliminary sketch plan has only 1 access point which is at the end of Angel Oak, a residential street that is already the sole access point for 83 homeowners.  With this proposed development there will be 161 homes that use Angel Oak as it passes Doe Path.  There are another 37 homes on Angel Oak beyond the intersection of Doe Path.   During development there will be heavy equipment, material deliveries, and construction workers driving along Angel Oak and the street it connects to, Stratton Farm.  After build out of Montevue there will be personal traffic, school buses, delivery vehicles and other traffic all along Angel Oak.

We, the homeowners in Cedarfield are concerned about the volume of traffic along Angel Oak and the risk of blocked access for these 161 homes in the event of a downed tree, utility break, or accident.  We are asking the Town of Huntersville to require the developer to create a second access point to one of the major streets nearby, either McIlwaine or Gilead.
