- On 24th Feb 2022, four days before the class 1 KV admissions were to start (on 28-02-2022), an admissions circular was released by KVS stating that the age criteria had been changed to 6-8 years from 5-7 years (apparently in accordance with NEP).
- More than a lakh of 5 year olds waiting for admission into 1st std in KV are now affected. There are many children who are missing the age criteria by only a few days. Parents from Armed Forces, Paramilitary forces, transferrable Central Govt employees, PSUs are in despair. Children who have completed their pre primary at 5+ and are waiting to join KV have no where to go because all other schools have completed the admissions in March end with 5+ age criteria.
- Parents serving in our Defence forces do not have time to even look into this matter as they are occupied in protecting us and our nation. As a proud ex-KVian, I am finding the injustice of this decision hard to digest.
- Little children and their foundational 1st year is at stake. As we march towards a bright future and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, is it just to play with the same future? I thus appeal everyone to come together and sign this petition to our honourable PM, especially for the children of our armed forces, requesting that the decision on age criteria be reconsidered for academic year 2022-2023, to be implemented with a better roadmap in the next year.
