The BBC’s choice to provide coverage of the country’s Winter Olympics matters. By doing so, the BBC evidences for the benefit of the CCP that the viewing British public is indifferent to systematic state-sponsored torture, the repression of civic freedoms, and of human rights. This implicitly condones the behaviour of the CCP towards thousands of forcibly separated families, tortured men and women, indoctrinated children, and detained journalists on the part of the British public. 

This is a very serious matter. Demonstrating that these human and civic rights abuses are not condoned internationally must be prioritised above any commercial or other financial incentive to provide coverage of these events.
