Request for In Person Classes at UNC Charlotte Spring 2022

Request for In Person Classes at UNC Charlotte Spring 2022
UNC Charlotte recently announced in a campus wide message that classes will return to online instruction for the first two weeks of the Spring 2022 semester and possibly the remainder of the academic year. This drastic change from in-person to online instruction causes unnecessary stress and anxiety for students.
This is a request for the classes to remain in person at UNC Charlotte. Research shows that students learn more when they are in-person at school. Students receiving in-person instruction have fewer distractions, increased concentration, and can receive more direct, personalized learning experiences that keep them from falling behind.
In addition, in-person classes enable students to concentrate more on learning because they will be less distracted than if they were at home. Students may feel more comfortable and learn more easily in a familiar, traditional classroom situation.
Lastly, in-person classes give students the opportunity to make friends with classmates, communicate with the professors, and have a true college experience.
Covid will probably be here for years, so we ask that UNC Charlotte please not sacrifice our college education for the omicron variant of COVID-19. According to the CDC this new variant has been proven to be less severe than the previous Delta variant that was present during the in-person classes last semester (Fall 2021).
We can't afford another "online zoom" semester. In short, this is a petition for classes to remain in person for the Spring 2022 semester. Thank you for considering our request.
Please share this petition with others! Thank you
