Starting school later such as 9 a.m. would be beneficial to many students seeing that they would be able to get an extra hour of sleep or more time to do their assignments. Getting at least 9 hours of sleep is important for everybody, especially students since it will criticize how they will do at school. An extra hour of sleep would help boosts a student’s behavior at school since many fall asleep in class due to the lack of sleep they receive. A study reveals that students who don’t get enough sleep are more at risk of drug and alcohol abuse, depression, and suicide. Another study has showed that by starting later, teens get better grades at school and they do better in all of their classes.
A ton of students take higher level classes which give out many assignments so they're usually up working on it and studying. Students have busy lives with tasks to complete such as work, practicing for a sport, attending a club, volunteering, spending time with family, and much more. Balancing all of these can very hectic for students. Not only will setting a later school time be beneficial to students, it will be beneficial to teachers as well. Teachers and staff members would get more sleep. There are some teachers who don’t live near the school they work at and have to drive at least 20 minutes to 45 minutes to get to their job.
