The goal of this petition is to raise awareness of the partiality in the Putnam county fair pageants. Specifically, the wrongdoings of one director, Shannon Hayes. Reasons are as follows: 

Two of This year’s judges were locals from Sparta, Shannon’s hometown.

There was also a local young girl on the judges panel for the first of the fair interviews named Maddy. She also did the hair and make up of the lovely Miss Bray who won 2022 fairest of the fair.

Two of this year’s winners were told by Shannon Hayes which dresses to wear in the pageant.

Miss Hayes sat right beside the judges and was heard on live and in person talking to those judges about the girls in the pageant. No pageant Director should ever have any contact with the judges during the pageant.

Two of the categories that were filmed live and re-posted to the Facebook page for the pageants, you could clearly hear Miss Hayes making comments about the girls and when confronted the videos that were reposted were deleted.

As a previous pageant judge who has traveled all over Tennessee and across different states judging numerous pageants, I will be the first to say that a pageant Director should never sit with the judges, it is unheard of.

Mothers and fathers spend their hard earned money and a lot of their time preparing their daughters for this hobby that most of them absolutely love. And it should be fair for everyone! The judges should be chosen from out of county so they cannot show partiality to any local girls. The pageant Director should stay in the shadows where she belongs, away from the judges. 
In addition to this petition, I, Along with about 20 other mothers currently, will also be writing letters to the fair board president John Allen and we encourage you to do the same if you have any first-hand account witnesses to the unfairness of the Putnam County fair pageant! 
Miss Shannon Hayes should be removed and replaced as the pageant Director so that our daughters all have a fair shot at a crown that is well deserved !
