Repeal Washington State Modified Exhaust Law
Many are affected by the law in Washington stating “motorists aren't allowed to change their exhaust systems to make their engines louder.” We feel like this is an unfair law because federal law states vehicles with modified exhausts should be under 95Db this is completely fair because most people with modified “street” exhaust are under 95Db and if not that is excessive. I have interviewed many people on the opposing side and while their arguments have some truth they all seem to have the same argument “it interrupts my peace and quite.”You can’t make an argument against this because to them it does. They don’t discriminate from imports to exotics it doesn’t matter if the exhaust is modified or not. For the most part this law affects car enthusiast that like to modify their cars to make them nicer and can’t afford exotic cars that come with louder exhausts. I feel if people keep their cars under the federal noise limit of 95Db, modifying your exhaust should be acceptable. Many of us are looking to change this unfair law and to find a middle ground.
