If it took pressure to make this law, hopefully it won't take much to get it repealed. Let equality reign!

I am signing because as a gay Navajo woman, I should not be discriminated against in my own tribe. And those who argue that "being gay" is not traditional know nothing about their own history. There is gay erasure in Navajo history and culture and that is the only reason that most Navajo's have a conservative, western-like thinking towards gay peoples. We need to change this, repeal the act. The Dine Marriage Act is not the Hozho way.

LGBT Native Americans on the Navajo Nation deserve equal treatment and respect from Navajo government. Their right to marry will give them the benefits to start a family.

This sort of law shouldn't be on the books of any governing body, to treat one type of marriage differently in the eyes of the law is the definition of discriminatory.

We the people, we have always embraced our brother with two spirits. And now we shun him...
Let us put this shame behind us.

Everyone of consensual age should have the right to marry whomever they choose.
