It is imperative for this city Lexington/Fayette county as well as the republic of Kentucky to put together a reparations task force to address and redress past enslavement, discrimination, red lining, confiscation of land, mass incarceration and the genocide of Fundational "Black" Americans( Decedent's of chattel slavery). The task force would include economist to look at the monetary aspect of repair/inheritance and land repair/inheritance that are due to Fundational "Black" Americans( Decedent's of chattel slavery) and come up with a monetary figure and acreage figure. This would be lineage based reparation that can be traced through the census records up until the 1900 which would include Freedman and Fundational "Black" Americans who were not enslaved. We would like this group to be comprised of predominately Fundational "Black" Americans. The task force will hold meetings the public would have access to via Zoom or in person to voice their opinions on the subject matter that will give the task force a consensus of what other forms of reparations Fundational "Black" Americans would like in addition to monetary and land, not limited to education, loan grants for housing/business etc. We would like to have this process started immediately.
