Ask Congress to Take Mar-a-Lago by Eminent Domain

For weeks, President Trump has been costing tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to travel to and host guests --both heads of State and members of his Administration-- at his home, Mar-a-Lago, located in Palm Beach, Florida.
At the same time, a private entity has been profiting, both directly and indirectly from the visits. That entity is the Trump Organization.
Upon her death, in 1973, Marjorie Merriweather Post bequeathed the property to the Federal Government, to be used as a "winter White House" but because the cost to maintain it was higher than what was left in her estate, the Government decided to give the property back to the Post Estate in 1981.
Four years later, the property was famously purchased by Donald Trump.
Since his inauguration, President Trump has been repeatedly calling Mar-a-Lago the "Southern White House" and has boasted about its utility for hosting foreign dignitaries.
Presumably, the Federal Government (including the Secret Service) has had to make many upgrades to the property, to make it fit for hosting the President of the United States. Those improvements should not inure to the benefit of the Trump Organization.
Accordingly, so as to avoid any financial conflict,to prevent the Trump organization from financially profiting from the decisions of President Trump and to allow for continuity of locations (and continued meetings at the "Southern White House") at the conclusion of the Trump Presidency, I Petition my Congressman, the Honorable Jerrold Nadler of New York's Tenth Congressional District, to introduce a bill, calling for the immediate taking of Mar-a-Lago, as a Federal property, pursuant to the "Takings Clause" of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution and such other and related powers and authorities as may be proper.
