As of last week, the mezzanine was closed off to all students. Leaving kids programmed with auditorium lunch to sit in the first floor auditorium. Not only is the line long and time consuming, but cramming that many people into one confined space is definitely breaking some Covid guideline. It is not safe for staff nor students. 

Why was the mezzanine closed down? There are numerous factors that lead to the closing of the mezzanine. Tech staff were limited, understaffed to say the least. They had to start recruiting volunteers from the students themselves. Covid guidelines were being blatantly violated, alongside people fooling around.

For far too long, we, the upperclassmen, have been punished for the actions of freshmen. No more. No longer will we be held accountable for the actions of freshmen. We must ban them all from entering the mezzanine. 

We, the students, demand Tech reopen the mezzanine and ban all freshmen from it.

Principal Newman, I formally request that you reopen the mezzanine. Making students eat in the hallways is neither safe nor sanitary. The mezzanine serves as a place for students to spend their free period. Whether that be studying or socializing with friends. We, the students, need our mezzanine back.

We, students of the Brooklyn Technical High School remain united against this common enemy. This is OUR shit to deal with.

The part about banning all freshmen from the mezzanine was a joke. I only wish that the freshmen who fool around in the mezzanine to be banned from it.
