Reopen the Annapolis road yard.

Reopen the Annapolis road yard.

The closure of the sonoma county Annapolis road yard, and seasonal staffing. Has been detramental to our local west county. And coast communities. After effects of King ridge road, and multi millions of dollars in repairs, road closures. Blocked emergency evacutions, delayed first responders etc. The fire departments are overwhelmed clearing trees from the roadway. Even in summer months. And the Annapolis yard being open seasonally is not enough, they cover a unique mountain terrain, and the longest road in the county, a vital evacuation route. Stewarts point skaggs springs road. And with new funds and more taxes, Lynda hopkins said the yard would open, around 2018 it was promised. And advocating for it. But unfortunatley no money came, promises not kept. The majority of money in sonoma county, is in the Sea ranch area in the Annapolis district. While many on the board of supervisors mention global warming, carbon foot prints, environment etc. The Annapolis crew in the summer is forced to drive to healdsburg, sonoma, cotati etc. From one end of the county to the far side. Burning astronomical amounts of fuel, and due to commutes so far, tires only lasting 3,000 miles. Thats a big foot print, west county dollars cover, for work in lower wine country like sonoma.and with record numbers of dead trees, and fires summer in Annapolis it crucial to be staffed year round, as well as being a no spray zone. Creating more hazards, fire fuels and roadside work. If it wasnt for covid restrictions, Annapolis crew would have been gone this last summer. Glad they werent they happened to help put out a potentially catastrophic fire, glad they were there. As much of the job is being a first responder, getting fire crews through, and clearing roads for evacutation. The money is there, nothing has been saved more has been spent, due to the seasonal nature. Please help me to get this vital yard reopened, and staffed yearly for crucial life saving services. Thanks so much. Norm Green
