Reopen and Maintain Patoker Branch Road and Fishing Areas

Reopen and Maintain Patoker Branch Road and Fishing Areas
Why this petition matters
Patoker Branch and its shelter area, walking track, and fishing dock are property of Morgan County. Approximately 1/2 mile past the boat dock, a gate was placed across the road by the Army Corp. of Engineers, more than two years ago, due to the road slipping. A posted sign reads "foot traffic only" which means that the shelter and fishing areas beyond that point are still open to the public. Although these areas are still open to the public, the Army Corp. of Engineers refuse to open the gate for the county to have access to maintain the road and the shelter and fishing areas. These areas appear to have not been mowed or maintained in any manner for at least 2 1/2 years.
The walking track is not visible or passable due to the overgrowth. The shelter has become dilapidated and have weeds touching the roof. While the road may be closed, these areas are still accessible by foot and boat and should be maintained for the safety of the public, considering the fact that our tax dollars pay for its maintenance.
Please sign this petition to express your desire to have Patoker Branch road and its shelter and fishing areas reopened and consistently maintained.
