Eric Kerr started this petition to Renumeration Tribunal

On June 6th, the Independent Renumeration Tribunal announced that our Federal Politicians will receive another pay rise beginning July 1st. The same day over 700,000 Retail, Hospitality, Fast Food and Pharmacy workers face having their penalty rates cut further.

This 2% pay rise, above inflation, will see Prime Minister Scott Morrison receive an extra $11,000 a year adding on top of his current salary of $538,460.

None of this is right. We live in a country of deep political disillusionment. The people are not happy with our political representation, and certainly do not believe they have earned a pay rise. Particularly at a time when the Coalition Government is responsible for the cuts to penalty rates for some of our most vulnerable workers. When wages are stagnant, welfare payment increases neglected and when we have a huge growing gap between the wealthy and the poor, this cannot be allowed.

"We ask the Renumeration Tribunal to reverse their decision to increase politician's pay, in line with community expectations and absolutely shoot down the explanation that paying a more "competitive rate" to our pollies will deliver better people in the job."

It is a gross injustice for members of Parliament to receive more money, when we, the Australian people are constantly reminded, scandal after tax payer funded scandal, that they do not deserve it.

Share this with your networks, friends, family, anyone working in hospitality, retail or anyone you think will join the cause.
