This petition serves as a demand for the University of Houston, to hold In-Person Commencement Ceremonies at TDECU Stadium for Spring 2020 + Fall 2020 Graduates. If games can be held, graduations can be held.

Our Dear Old University should make every effort to make this happen considering our alumni and rising seniors have sacrificed and are still sacrificing so much due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You hope UH would consider celebrating graduates that have put their hopes and dream into UH for 4+ years, before an athletics game.

Recently a UH alumna, Diana Agher expressed her dissatisfaction with the UH Administration's inadequate efforts, "…its shame football games are more of a priority to the university than the thousands of students that worked their a**** off the past several years." After pouring so much money into the University, to reach their long-awaited goal of graduation, the least the University can do to award our graduates aside from a piece of paper is a proper commencement ceremony.

University of Houston's population consists of students that come from different backgrounds many of which include, International Students and First-generation College Students who amount to 49% of students attending the University of Houston. From the very first time, these students set foot on campus, their blood, sweat, and tears have been dedicated to graduation. Now, the same University their dreams and hopes went into, have let them down once again.

Alumni and rising graduates at The University of Houston are demanding UH Administration to modify virtual commencement ceremonies to in-person ceremonies. If you are in favor of the University of Houston holding socially distanced Commencement Ceremonies, please sign and share this petition, as it requires your immediate attention and support.

If the University of Houston fails to acknowledge or adhere to the demands of alumni and rising seniors, the community will be forced to participate in direct action of more petitions, protests, and pride of our dear old varsity... #GoCoogs
