Why this petition matters

Started by Mike Kennedy

In Millard, we have a tradition of honoring great former superintendents by naming a school after them.  Dr. Jim Sutfin is one of the greats and he is retiring June 30, 2022.  Dr. Sutfin has Millard in his DNA and Central Middle School has been a major part of his life.  Jim was a student, teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Millard Central Middle School.

While serving as Superintendent in Millard, Dr. Sutfin has won many awards including the Nebraska Superintendent of the year in 2021. Dr. Sutfin helped transform Millard by transitioning Millard to a one-to-one district through technology access for all students and improving our academics with the Early College Program at Millard South and other district wide initiatives.  Two initiatives of his as superintendent touched Central Middle School directly. One being the Bridge to Early College Program and the other was the building of the Boys and Girls Club addition to Central Middle School.

Millard Central Middle School is under renovations and we ask that it be renamed after Dr. Jim Sutfin at the completion of the renovation project.  I have known Jim for the 19 years I have served on Millard's Board of Education and I can think of no other person than Jim to give this well deserved honor upon his retirement.

Sincerely,

Mike Kennedy, Member of the Millard Board of Education
