Ei Thinzar Maung started this petition to Myanmar

March 27, 1945 marks one of the most crucial moment that united all revolutionary forces and civilians to revolt against Fascism which ultimately set course for the Burmese independence. The day was initially called "Resistance Day" which Ne Win government accredited "Armed Forces Day". Armed Forces Day celebrates the same day with different connotations to its origin. The annual event features military parades to honor the 'Tatmadaw' (Military Forces) and its achievements.

A day that different rebellion forces joined hands together not only with each other but the civilians of every ethnic stood against Fascism was changed to honour the Armed Forces as if the Burmese military forces alone fought colonialism in Myanmar. The same Tatmadaw under Ne Win, Than Shwe, and Min Aung Hlaing has staged coups since 1958, creating the world's longest civil war with a far-right nationalist agenda to oppress the ethnic groups. Tatmadaw represents almost everything we are fighting against today_ oppression, inequality and injustice.

27th March represents what unity can achieve in Myanmar. Unfortunately, that day is now for the glory of Myanmar Tatmadaw. This blatant act of propaganda by Tatmadaw must end in 2021.

Our diversity makes us stronger. 27th March will represent our unity in diversity in fighting against Fascism.

By signing this petition, you will agree to call the 27th March as "Resistance Day" (Taw Hlan Yay Nay) and denounce the Tatmadaw's (Military) self proclaimed heroism.
