Remove the Satute of Limitations

Remove the Satute of Limitations
In Arkansas the statute of Limitations is only three years. This would mean that if a crime is reported after three years, there is no longer anything the police can do about it.
It took me five years to finally face my trauma from the boy who had sexually assaulted me twice on the school bus. Five years until I finally told my parents and my therapist what had happened, and that was only after a breakdown in fear he was stalking me, as he had been doing so at school before covid. My therapist reported this when I told her, but told me nothing could be done unless other victims spoke out about more recent assaults.
The statute of Limitations does nothing but protect the predators and ensure that they'll have a higher chance of getting away with this. If a child begins to have ptsd flashbacks of their assault years later and want justice to insure that them and others are safe, this isn't granted.
I think that the statute of Limitations should be abolished completely, or if not then extended to great amounts. I hope that if this petition recieves enough attention that I can bring this problem to my state government with a case and a number of signatures that will force them to pay attention to this and hopefully change the statute completely.
Thank you for listening to my story, and I have nothing but sorrow for other individuals within my state or even other states who have been hurt in some way, shape, or form, but were not able to properly get justice or action against the perpetrator(s).
As an ending note: amab (assigned male at birth) individuals can get assaulted or molested as well, and their stories should be treated with as much care and respect that we treat afab (assigned female at birth) assaults. Every victim deserves justice.
