Justin Espinosa started this petition to Savannah College of Art and Design SCAD Dean of Students

The purpose of this petition is to try to revert the decision that Resident's life and housing made that made it a requirement to have a meal plan to live on campus, even if the dorm has a kitchen in it. Their reasoning for the decision is, as I quote, "This change is part of our commitment to encourage and support our students in living a healthy lifestyle, which includes eating fresh, healthy meals, whether on campus or in their residence." The price of the cheapest meal plan, costing a total of $421 per quarter, gives 25 meals per quarter with $125 dinning dollars, which is actually half that because everything you you can use dinning dollars on is double the price of what it should be. With $500 a quarter, I can have 3 meals a day that all consist of healthy food. Why should I have to pay almost the same amount on something that is overpriced and unneeded? The cafes consist of mostly unhealthy foods and very few healthy food, the cafes cost a lot of money if you do not use a meal plan. Very few on campus areas that meal plans can be used on have a good selection of healthy food, and the selection is all pre-made, packaged foods like salads and sandwiches. I've also known a some people who got food poisoning from the cafes and other on campus dining options. So what part of this is healthy?
