Over 10 years ago, the position of Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) was created to make elected officials responsible for local policing.

Since being implemented I can find no data that supports their effectiveness, and as a member of the public I see less of a police presence now then I did before the appointment of PCCs. All my local police stations are closed, there are no police patrols in my area and I have a large majority of my council tax paying towards the PCC. I also find that getting through to the non emergency 101 number is not possible.

Given how the cost of living has risen and PCCs do not seem to be proving their worth, I am putting forward the notion to remove them from the policing structure and revert back to Chief Constables and the Home Office, controlling the police. This will give a significant reduction in taxes to the average person, as well as giving control of policing back to those that understand policing.
