Remove the bus stop from our high street and help prevent noise and pollution.
The bus stops on Queen Street, Morley, have led to an untenable increase in noise and air pollution, intimidation of residents by those loitering by the bus stops, as well as vandalism and littering.
Buses are frequently parked, one behind the other with their engines running from 5:26am until late at night. As many as three buses have been sitting there at a time.
Residents are unable to open windows, and are commonly disturbed late at night and early in the mornings, citing air and noise pollution. They also report shaking of the foundations and walls of their homes. Furthermore, it has long been known that increased urban pollution has led to a higher incidence of breathing problems, particularly among children.
The bus stops were previously running well down the side of Morley Town Hall. There is more space there, with less footfall for the passengers to obstruct, and no residents to disturb or intimidate.
We know that with enough signatures from the people in the immediate residential areas we can get this changed.
Please help us keep Queen Street safe, and a pleasant place on which to live and shop!
