I am deeply concerned about the decision to feature Taylor Frankie Paul on the show Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Taylor Frankie Paul has been known for a troubling pattern of behavior, including mental and emotional abuse, and a history of physical violence with absolutely no sign of remorse or any willingness to change. What is even more alarming is the impact of this decision on her own children, who have reportedly been victimized by her actions.

Hulu's choice to continue casting someone with such a history is not just about entertainment; it's a dangerous message being sent to viewers, particularly women and children who may be watching and taking cues from the content. It normalizes abusive behavior, suggesting that if someone is open about their abusive tendencies, they can still be rewarded with fame and media attention. This notion that no change is required, just acceptance of one's abusive nature, undermines the serious efforts needed to address and speak out against abuse.

Depicting an individual's violent behavior without accountability fosters a culture of acceptance around abuse and violence, jeopardizing the integrity of content that reaches vast audiences through platforms like Hulu. It is crucial that media productions take a stand against featuring individuals who engage in harmful and destructive behaviors, especially when there is no evidence of therapy, rehabilitation, or any genuine step towards improvement.

The abusive behavior Taylor has shown is not isolated. It is not solely against Dakota. We have seen on our own screens her be mentally and emotionally abusive towards her friends and family. We have seen evidence she takes no consideration for her children’s safety. We have heard throughout the episodes the women fearful of Taylor and her outbursts and what will happen to them. Occasionally referencing being afraid she’ll hit them. Hulu, it’s not acceptable to allow your cast to be around a woman that is abusive in all the ways. The show will survive without Taylor. Stop the abuse. 

We need to hold Hulu accountable for the people they choose to represent in their programming and ensure that these choices align with values that protect and empower the vulnerable, not exploit their stories for sensational content.
