Petitioning Michigan Legislature and 3 others

Remove state penalties for adult possession of Marijuana in Michigan

We simply cannot afford to inforce laws that are ineffective in detouring or discourage use.We are wasting taxpayer money that could be better spent on things like healtcare, jobs, and education.Senator Carl Levin and Congressman Mike Rogers are against any decriminalization or Legalization,on several occasions I have written them.Their responses are straight from a template always saying basically the same misinformation. We need people in government who understand it's"We The People"not "We The Government".

Letter to
Michigan Legislature
Michigan Senator Senator Carl Levin
Michigan Senator Senator Debbie Stabinow
and 1 other
Michigan Congressman Congressman Mike Rogers
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Michigan Legislature.

----------------
Legalize marijuana use/possesion for responsible adults

We simply cannot afford to inforce laws that are ineffective in detouring or discourage use.We are wasting taxpayer money that could be better spent on things like healtcare, jobs, and education.Between 1990-2000 neary 5.9 million americans are arrested on marijuana charges. The cost of the drugwar to taxpayers is estimated at 10 billion for the year 2000. Although whites use at a rate comparable to that of minorities, whites are arrested and charged at about a third the rate of minorities.A study by the rand corporation confirms this in 1990 a study conducted over a three year period found that 99% of defendants in drug trafficing cases are minorities.Leading many to believe that drug laws in this country are another way for law enforcement and government to continue racism in one form or another. On October 28,1919 the 18th amendment of the constitution is adopted making alcohol illegal, Fourteen years later it is repealed by the 21st amendment because the law is seen as ineffective in detouring or discouraging use. These are the same reasons we should do away with marijuana prohibition.
