My name is Margaret Federal and I am the wife of an active duty military member and the mother of two young sons. The insidious effects of bullying were brought home to me when one of our sons was bullied at school. It was then that I learned that the wounds inflicted by a bully are deep and the trauma lingers long after the bullying stops.
Providing a safe and nurturing environment where every student can learn and grow means that we actively promote a culture of tolerance, kindness and respect for everyone. It is our responsibility as parents, educators and community members to uphold those values through unrelenting education, vigilance and zero tolerance.
President Trump has demonstrated through his words and actions (his treatment of women, the disabled, those whose religious beliefs he does not share – and the list continues to grow) that he is a bully of the highest order.
President Trump is the embodiment of intolerance, hate and disrespect and, for this reason, his picture does not belong in our DODEA schools.
Please show your support for our children and their futures and strengthen the DODEA anti-bullying policy by removing President Trump’s photographs from all DODEA schools.
Let’s be the change we want to see in our country, and in the world.
