Remove Michael Diggdon from Richmond County Council

Remove Michael Diggdon from Richmond County Council
Why this petition matters
Councilor Michael Diggdon has been found in breach of the code of conduct set out by the Richmond County Municipality. Michael Diggdon has shown no remorse for his actions, which he stated in the CBC article, and sees nothing wrong with the way he conducted his municipal duties. He preyed on a vulnerable constituent in a difficult situation and he should be help accountable for his actions.
As set out by council, Michael Diggdon is required to issue a letter of apology to the victim, not attend April's council meetings and attend sensitivity training; all while being paid with our tax dollars. The actions by councilor Diggdon are inexcusable. This is a slap in the face, not only to Richmond County residents, but also to all women who have experienced sexual violence in their life.
This petition is to request Michael Diggdon to remove himself from Council and if he feels he still has public support, should run in a bi-election. As citizens of this county, we should be able to elect officials who appreciate their community and county, and not those who disregard those who put them in the position of power. Our elected officials should be held to a higher standard than Michael Diggdon has shown to his constituents. If council feels they are unable to remove him from council, it is our job to rally together to achieve what is right.
