After signing the Petition please forward this to all your friends, family and colleagues who are impacted due to delay in removal of Kherki Daula Toll and delay in completion of Dwarka Expressway leading to massive Traffic Jams on NH8 and Pollution in Gurgaon.

It was a jam that lasted so long and was so bad that it earned itself a unique name: Gurujam. The world knows about the Maha Traffic Jam of 20+ hours on NH8 ( Delhi Gurgaon Expressway ) dated 28-July-2016 6:00 PM onwards after heavy rainfall which lasted for a day bringing traffic to a standstill with the tailback extending up to 24 kilometers or more (source).

This was not just one day, the daily bumper to bumper traffic is a perpetual problematic matter for lacs of daily commuters on Delhi Gurgaon Expressway NH8 which directly or indirectly impact our daily lives.

Few major instances of NH8 Traffic Jams are listed below:

20 Hours Traffic Jam on NH8 dated 28-July-2016 (source).

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stuck in NH8 Traffic Jam dated 7-March-2016 (source)

Three Union ministers, including road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari stuck in Traffic Jam on NH-8 dated 25-July-2014 (source)

The list of traffic Jams on NH8 is endless.

The traffic carrying capacity of the road was breached before 2013 itself (source)

What is the daily traffic jam costing you?
In a traffic jam, a vehicle consumes almost 20% more fuel. Assuming that you are in a jam six times in a week, you spend Rs.108 more than you would otherwise. Rs. 60,0000 crore can be lost every year, including fuel wastage, due to traffic delays on high-volume highways. (source).

Civic agencies have failed to develop roads with futuristic planning which is now hurting the city as more than 10,000 new vehicles roll out on to the streets of Gurgaon every three months (source)

Amid the planned robust expansion of Gurgaon and nearby industrial areas like Manesar and influx of expected heavy traffic due to increasing car penetration in Delhi NCR, Haryana Govt. announced the ambitious 150 M Wide x 8 Lane x 18 Km Long expressway project named as Dwarka Expressway or Northern Peripheral Road (NPR) in year 2007 to improve connectivity between Dwarka and Gurgaon (3rd Major Connecting road after NH8 and Mehrauli – Gurgaon Road). Both Delhi and Haryana Govt. signed off MOU in 2007, the initial Target set by the Govt. to complete Dwarka Expressway Govt. was before CWG’10 (Common Wealth Games) however till date the 28 KM National Highway road has not been completed to improve the connectivity and reduce traffic load on NH8.

Key Objective of Dwarka Expressway were:

1. to off-load the Traffic from NH8 by 40%

2. to smoothen the airport connectivity with mega industrial area (Manesar) by reducing travel time/distance

3. to development of New Gurgaon Residential Sector to meet the housing demand of Millennium sector.

Impact on End Users:
More than 90,000+ residents and home buyers from middle class and upper middle class category have purchased their dream homes in Dwarka Expressway and New Gurugram. Some of them have already got the possession of their flats after the delay of 2 or more year and some are in process to get their dream homes in next 6 months to 1 year (source). Residents across the sectors of new Gurgaon area like 37, 76, 77, 78,79,80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 99A, 100, 101, 102, 102A, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, 110A, 111, 112, 113, 114, 115 etc. will have following huge impact due to further delay of Dwarka Expressway:

o More and more traffic burden on NH8 will continue. Vehicle population has increased by more than 40% in last 5 years.

o Increase in travel time/distance by more than 40% for office goers from Dwarka and nearby areas

o Increase in Pollution, not just due to traffic issues, but due to increased use of diesel gensets for electricity, causing more deaths due to respiratory diseases in people in Delhi & Gurgaon

o Infrastructure like Sector Roads, electricity supply from grid, water supply and sewage system will be incomplete for long term due to non-operational of Dwarka Expressway

o  Increase in waste of government subsidy due to use of diesel generators for electricity owing to incomplete infrastructure

o  Poor airport connectivity for residents of new sectors across Dwarka Expressway, causing more traffic jams

o  Delay in planned public transportation like metro for new sectors across Dwarka Expressway as per Master Plan, causing more traffic jams

o  Concern on expansion plan of Manesar Industrial Area

In order to provide relief to lacs daily commuters of Delhi-Gurgaon-Manesar-Jaipur and 90,000 buyers who invested in Dwarka Expressway we request the Govt. facilitate below:

1. Time bound completion of Dwarka Expressway to distribute NH8 Traffic

2. Proper Connectivity of Dwarka Expressway to Delhi and NH8

3. Time bound removal of Kherki Dhaula Toll Plaza (Gurgaon-Manesar Toll) to reduce Traffic Jams

4. Or provide free Tags for residents of New Gurgaon Sectors across Kherki Dhaula Toll Plaza like Govt. has provided free tags to the people of 32 villages falling near Kherki Dhaula toll Plaza.

5. Time bound connectivity of Dwarka Expressway (NPR Sec 37, 81 to 115) to Southern Peripheral Road (SPR Sec 76 to 80)

6. Time bound completion of all Master and Sector Roads of New Gurgaon.

7. Time bound completion of Electric Sub-Stations and Govt. Electricty supply for all new townships.

8. Metro Connectivity from Dwarka to Gurgaon to Manesar as per plan.

Requesting everyone impacted to support the cause to waken the Govt. and authorities to take immediate actions which impacts our daily lives. You may also voice out your concerns in the comment section below.
