Every day the price of fuel continues to rise, and it is forcing Kansans to make decisions about whether to purchase gas or to purchase groceries to support their families. The increased cost Kansans are spending on gas is placing a strain on families. A temporary suspension of the gas tax would reduce the increased economic pressures on everyday Kansans.  Increased costs at the pump also dramatically impact commercial interests as well.  Small businesses, localities, schools, and other consumers desperately need a reprieve from these prices.  Everyday jobs which require transportation are incurring dramatically increased costs, and their businesses and taxpayers are feeling a heavy burden. Temporarily suspending the gas tax for at least 30 days will reduce some of the economic strain for Kansans, and demonstrate that our legislature is willing to help our citizens when we need it most.
