The recent 'Facial Recognition' security upgrade to Bunnings, The Good Guys and Kmart is a huge invasion to the people's privacy. People are not given the opportunity to consent. The signage regarding the facial recognition technology  breaches many principles in the Privacy Act 1988.

Biometric information is classed as “sensitive” under the Privacy Act meaning its collection is protected by a strict set of laws that also covers health data and details about a person’s race or sexual orientation.

Sensitive information cannot be legally collected without consent.

There are physical signs at the store entrances informing customers about the use of the technology, but the signs are small, inconspicuous and are missed by most shoppers leaving most customers largely un-aware of this unlawful practice.

We the people are demanding that the facial recognition technology be removed from all stores as it is a breach and an invasion of our privacy and we do not consent. 

We as individuals will all file privacy breach investigations and lawsuits against you until it is removed.
