Many complaints have been made regarding the mutilation and botched surgeries under the hands of Dr Darryl Stevens - urologist at Mackay Base Hospital, recently suspended then reinstated after mutilation of a man's penis.

Recent news articles of his suspension led to many personal stories of botched surgeries, my elderly (80 yr old) father suffered months of pain and agony after what Dr Darryl Stevens stated was a simple procedure of laser blasting gall stones. Daily trips to the hospital with catheter problems, finally when arrangements were made for surgery Dr Darryl Stevens had no confidence to complete the surgery and left an elderly man nil by mouth for days. Only when my father mentioned that he might as well do himself in, did the hospital system take his pain seriously.

Finally months later with a referral to the PA hospital in Brisbane where surgery was conducted without issue or emotional blackmail. We are so very grateful in hind sight that my father was referred to PA hospital, he is one of the fortunate that was surgically treated correctly.

Together we can stand strong, we do not deserve average treatment just because we are in a small town.
