Petition Closed

Chick-fil-A has been the center of controversy due to the statements made by company President Dan Cathy acknowledging that the company supports an anti-gay marriage agenda. It has been also made public that Chick-fil-A has poured approximately $5 million into donations to groups fighting to stop gay marriage and other organizations that support criminalizing homosexuality.

The University of Texas at Arlington is the second largest institution in the UT System. UTA prides itself on being an open, diverse, and inclusive campus and as such, we cannot continue to give our money to a corporation that sponsors hate. We ask that you support us in trying to remove this restaurant from the University of Texas at Arlington campus. The issue is not of free speech, Chick-fil-A and its administration have every right to their views, beliefs and voice, but patrons need to know that revenues going to Chick-fil-A become funding for groups that are clearly in conflict with our campus non-discrimination policies. We must stand against those who wish to tread upon equality and end Chick-fil-A’s war on equal rights.
