Remove Brett Favre From USM's Eagle Walk

Remove Brett Favre From USM's Eagle Walk
Why this petition matters

According to the University of Southern Mississippi's website, the Eagle Walk "is a living monument that recognizes Southern Miss' proud history of athletic excellence."
Brett Favre should not be memorialized on the University of Southern Mississippi's Eagle Walk.
Brett Favre has humiliated our institution and our state. While the issue of corruption in Mississippi runs deeper than Brett Favre, Favre is the face of this embarrassment. Brett Favre made sure of that as he feigned generosity by making a very public donation of stolen money meant for Mississippians most in need to our university under the guise of bettering our athletic programs. Instead, his actions have demeaned and defamed our athletics programs and university as a whole.
Brett Favre gambled with the well-being of Mississippi residents and in doing so, used the University of Southern Mississippi as an unwilling accomplice.
Any argument that Favre wanted to better our university is eviscerated in light of how he chose to conduct himself.
Brett Favre compromised the integrity of the University of Southern Mississippi.
Brett Favre has left a stain on this institution that has completely and irrevocably overshadowed any performance he may have had on the football field. Instead, he has assured that this crime be his lasting legacy on athletic programs at USM.
Brett Favre's actions have undone years of development, advancement, and excellence in the University of Southern Mississippi's athletic programs. Brett Favre's behavior is NOT indicative of what USM stands for, and he should, therefore, not be privileged to represent our school on our campus.
If the University of Southern Mississippi wants to truly denounce Brett Favre's behavior, the school will remove Brett Favre's image from the Eagle Walk.
