The sport of bowls at its pinnacle event (Commonwealth Games) should be a celebration of the sport and the progressive attitudes towards its competitive side to mark its place in todays modern sporting world. With sports such as cricket and snooker in recent years modernising and becoming more audience friendly bowls unfortunately has stagnated. Now whilst not all the sports problems are the commentators fault we have to recognise that old style views and ideals of the sport should be left exactly where they belong, in the past!! It should also be highlighted that the current crop in the comms box are indeed ex pros of over 20/30 years ago and the sports moved on from tactics to dress to etiquette and behaviours on the green. Mr corkhill in particular has been largely disrespectful towards many a player in the competition as well as holding old ideals in not celebrating good play for fear of not showing respect for their opponent. Every pro out there is respectful and also respects the fact that their opponent has every right in the heat of elite sport to celebrate how they wish. Your times up corkhill.
