This petition addresses the issue of cultural and religious discrimination in NZ Boxing. As the current rule stands, amateur boxers can have no more than 2mm of facial hair to compete. This unfairly discriminates against a range of athletes who refrain from cutting their facial hair due to various cultural and religious beliefs. 

This is a violation of the 1993 Human Rights Act and does not align with NZ Boxing nor Sport NZ’s ethos for diversity and inclusion of all. 

It is time to change our rules, time to include everyone, time to become the diverse nation, community and sporting code we wish to be.
