Remove and cut ties with Alice Massie and Drop charges on Aysia and Kamari

We are petitioning for the removal of Alice Massie from the Monroe Park Conservancy and for all of her ties with Virginia Commonwealth University to be severed. We are also demanding the university, specifically the Office of Student Conduct & Academic Integrity, to drop any and all current and impending charges against Kamari Branch and Aysia Anderson-McCoy in regards to Alice Massie’s false claims.
Alice Massie has history of repeated assault and harassment of Black students as well as arbitrarily enforcing rules on Black students. There is video evidence of her assaulting Aysia and multiple witness testimony to her behavior and escalation of the incident and previous altercations with other students. She does not represent the values of VCU, specifically its “interdisciplinary collaborations and community partnerships that advance innovation, enhance cultural and economic vitality, and solve society’s most complex challenges” as well as VCU’s “deeply engrained core values of diversity, inclusion and equity that provide a safe, trusting and supportive environment to explore, create, learn and serve.”
Moreover Alice Massie’s racist behavior and misconduct does not align with the Conservancy’s objective “to make the Park welcome for all potential users.” VCU and the Conservancy have a duty to the cities and institutions Black population and this would only serve to tarnish both the Park and University.
Virginia Commonwealth University and the Monroe Park Conservancy must act swiftly or else they will both fail its Black residents.
