Remote Learning Extension for Achievement First Schools

Remote Learning Extension for Achievement First Schools
As educators we understand the importance of in-person learning and the impact that it has for our student population in comparison to de facto remote learning. We agree that in-person learning is the most developmentally sound method for our students to receive an education, however, currently it does not come without great risk to other students, staff, and families who can be exposed to deadly transmissions of COVID-19. In order for school environments to be conducive spaces of rich academic teaching and learning it must not only be physically and emotionally safe, but also have systems in place that guarantee the safety of the student body, staff, and teachers..
Proposed Solution:
We are requesting that remote learning be extended until the surge in cases normalizes again.
We understand that this may be challenging but we are prepared as educators to care for ourselves and make decisions that best serve us and our communities even if Achievement First isn’t in the place to do so. This explicitly means that we will not be returning back to the building to work if remote learning isn’t enforced effective on January 10, 2022.
