Hello! My names Danny and I was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio..... Our skatepark here has been the safe haven, second home, and place to enjoy our summer days with friends and family for many years now. Over the past ten years I’ve seen the city neglect our skatepark more and more. I’ve seen children have fingers broken due to our prefabricated ramps and just lack of fixing anything correctly. My hopes in creating this petition is to build a new skatepark that would be more up to date with Ohio safety standards. If we could get a new skatepark built we could most definitely get more warm bodies to the city to eat our local foods, shop at our markets and give them the scoop on how great Springfield truly can be. We have no skate shop anymore, we haven’t since lost nation was shut down in the mall over ten years ago. Skateboarding has single handedly kept me out of jail with the help of my friends my entire life and I wouldn’t be who I am today without that skatepark or the people who dedicate their time to make it a better place. Once we get the ball rolling us locals have plans on opening and starting a new board company/shop to increase our chances of population in the city of Springfield.
