RELEASE THE STUDENT AND YOUTH LEADERSHIP DETAINED FOR DEMANDING JUSTICE FOR ANISH KHAN
Last week, a 28 years-old student leader, Anish Khan was murdered by the Police in West Bengal's Howrah. He was purportedly thrown off the roof of his house by unidentified persons (later identified as Police personnel) in the Amta area of Howrah.
The killing of student leader Anish Khan has sparked a widespread protest movement across West Bengal. Hundreds of students of various universities are staging protests every day, thereby mounting pressure on the government. The Superintendent of Police of Howrah Rural areas is found to have personal terms with the ruling party of Bengal and is the husband of a TMC MLA. The left student and youth wings along with other citizens staged a protest demanding proper investigation in front of the office of the SI of Howrah Rural where Minakshi Mukherjee, the State president of DYFI, the youth wing of CPI(M) along with 15 others were taken into custody and were pressed with charges of non-bailable offence of attempt to murder by the police in a desperate attempt to sabotage the public furore directed at them.
We demand unconditional release of all the 16 detained at the earliest possible instance. Please sign this petition to support our cause!
