Release the Remaining Funds for AMU Kishanganj Centre

Release the Remaining Funds for AMU Kishanganj Centre
The Issue
To:
Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,
Hon’ble Minister of Education, Government of India
Subject: Immediate release of pending funds for Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Kishanganj Centre
Why this petition matters
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Kishanganj Centre was established with the promise of bringing quality higher education to one of India’s most backward and underdeveloped regions — Seemanchal, Bihar. Despite repeated assurances and allocation of land and infrastructure, the Centre continues to suffer due to non-release of the remaining sanctioned funds.
The Centre began functioning in 2013 with courses in B.Ed., MBA, and Law. However, a lack of infrastructure, faculty, and residential facilities has hindered its full development. Thousands of students from Bihar, West Bengal, and the North-East dream of accessing higher education at par with national standards. These dreams remain incomplete because the promised funds have not been released in full.
Our demands:
Immediate release of the remaining sanctioned funds for AMU Kishanganj Centre.
Approval of new courses and facilities to make the Centre fully functional.
Allocation of sufficient faculty and staff positions to ensure quality education.
Establishment of proper hostels, libraries, and laboratories at par with other AMU centres.
Why it’s urgent:
Seemanchal region consistently ranks at the bottom of socio-economic indicators. This Centre is not merely an educational institution — it is a tool for social justice, regional balance, and national integration. Any delay in funds directly harms thousands of students and the future of an entire region.
We urge the Government of India:
Please honour your commitment to higher education in backward regions and release the remaining funds for the AMU Kishanganj Centre immediately.
