Release Christine Josee from detention

Release Christine Josee from detention
Why this petition matters

Christine Josee is an asylum seeker from Democratic Republic of Congo. She was detained in Cardiff on 30th August and taken at 3.00am by van to Manchester where she was kept for two days. She was then transferred on a five hour van journey to Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre. After two days at Colnbrook she was returned at 1.00am in the morning by van to Manchester and the following day she was taken by van to Derwentside, County Durham, a journey of six hours.
She was moved four times in just a week, as a result of which she was not eating, not sleeping and was sick from stress and had to attend Durham hospital. Her treatment at the hands of the Border Police has been appalling.
Christine cannot go back to DRC - her activism and campaigning for justice and democracy mean that she would be at risk if she was returned.
She came to the UK in 2017 and, since arriving in Wales in 2019, she has integrated into the community and made a new life. She has volunteered with asylum seeker and refugee groups, with the Congalese community in Swansea, and with her church in Cardiff where she cleans the offices. The photograph shows her in her red jumper volunteering at a community event in the Grand Theatre Swansea.
Please sign this petition calling upon the Home Office to release Christine from detention and allow her claim to proceed.
