Kimberly Jacobson started this petition to Minnesota Department of Corrections

Hello let me introduce myself to you,my name is Andrew Salinas I am 55 years old from Lubbock,Texas. I have been incarcerated in the state of Minnesota since 1988, 31 years. I did something that I am not proud of, I was in a situation where a police officer lost his life. I was young, wild, and drinking all the time. I was taking my life and freedom for granted, and I didn't realize how precious life is.
I have one daughter she was four months old when I was incarcerated, now she is almost 32 years old. I also have four grandchildren two boys, and two girls. My daughter knows that I am her father, and my grandchildren know who I am,but they don't really know me because,l have been incarcerated all of their lives. I would like to get out of prison so that I can be with my family, and get to know them.
During my time of incarceration I have taking many programs to find out where I went wrong in life. And through these programs I have learned what's important in life,And how to treat others.
I would like the chance to be out their with my teenage grandson to talk to him about the positive things in life, and the positive things I've learned in my incarceration.I do believe this is one way that I can help my grandson, live a healthy life in the free world.
I am a changed man,my thinking is not the same as it was 31 years ago.
I want to thank you for your time and support.

Sincerely Andrew Salinas
