Mark Miller started this petition to Mayor Town Council

The Town of Weddington Town Council is giving consideration to a zoning change, from residential to conditional use, for an 85-acre project at the intersection of Providence Road and Route 84. Plans for this project include high density housing and retail and office space. Suggestions were made of medical offices, restaurants, bars, and a beer garden /brew pub. The project is reminiscent of Waverly a nearby development that has been a debacle for the area.

For many years Weddington has had Thoughtful management of zoning practices that has created an attractive and highly desirable town with high property values. Weddington is singular amongst towns in the Charlotte area because of this intentional curation.  This has been slowly eroded and population density is far outpacing infrastructure (Roads, Schools, etc).  This rezoning goes CONTRARY to our Land Use Plans, ordinances, precedent & Even Union County 2050 plans.

If Weddington "Green" is approved, it will be Weddington "GONE" as the rezoning will just start a flood of high-density development to an area already over-developed with CURRENT Zoning.

Plan on attending the NEXT Hearing at Weddington HS, 4/11 @ 7:00 PM.
