Why this petition matters

Started by Milly Plant

The Bill of Rights the government has proposed will limit our human rights and access to help from the courts for many people.

Disabled and neuro-diverse groups will no loner be able to hold public authorities (the government, police, etc) accountable for discrimination.

Interpretation of laws in favour of human rights is no longer allowed so if a grievance isn't specifically stated in an  act it will be dismissed.

Abortion will not be included in this Bill leaving it free for the government to change and limit.

Nothing is stated about our rights to protest, demonstrate or publish articles, books and leaflets.

Freedom of speech is being changed. While speech that incites violence, radicalises terrorists or threatens children is still considered illegal discriminatory language (homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism etc) is no longer considered an issue and neither is sexual harassment.

The right to marriage for transgender persons has also been removed.
