Reinstate the Pension Age to 65 For All

Reinstate the Pension Age to 65 For All
The Issue
In 1979, I began working at the age of 17 with the understanding and anticipation that I would be able to retire at the age of 60. Fast forward to today and my retirement age has been pushed to 68—an unforeseen obstacle that has greatly impacted me and my spouse who have both encountered severe health issues recently.
Illness has impacted us and working full-time or even part-time especially in physical jobs until the age of 68 is a joke.
This scenario is not unique to us. We are among thousands facing the same struggle due to changes in pension policy. In 2018, the UK's state pension age began increasing from 65 and previously from 60 for women and will continue to do so every couple of months until it reaches 68 by 2028 (source: Office for National Statistics).
Whilst I myself, as a woman, am happy to wait until 65 re equal rights, saving the government plenty of money. I AM NOT HAPPY TO KEEP PUSHING THE AGE BACK.
Numerous adults are not physically capable of working until such a late age due to illness or occupation-related reasons.
We implore the government to reassess the sustainability and fairness of these changes and reinstate the pension age to 65 for all. By upholding the initial retirement age, they would show an understanding and respect towards the needs and rights of our working population. Please support us in championing fairness for all workers by signing this petition.
