In May 2023, the Democrat-controlled Minnesota Legislature passed a bill creating the State Emblems Redesign Commission (SERC), a 13-member body tasked with recommending new designs for the state flag and seal—effectively removing the old flag, adopted in 1957 with roots in an 1893 design. The commission included stakeholders like tribal nations, historians, and public officials, including Secretary of State Steve Simon, who oversees state emblems as keeper of the seal. The law made the new designs official on May 11, 2024 (Statehood Day), unless rejected by a two-thirds legislative vote—bypassing a statewide referendum, sparking criticism for lacking public input. No binding vote let residents decide; Simon, a Democrat and redesign supporter, defended the process and backed the new flag as one that "captures the imagination." The Minnesota Legislative Manual (Blue Book), a biennial publication from the Secretary of State's office since 1874, provides government resources. On July 29, 2025, Simon released the 2025-2026 edition—the first featuring the new emblems—and dedicated it to them, with a special section including messages from SERC Chair Luis Fitch and Vice-Chair Dr. Anita Gaul, plus redesign photos. 

What does this mean? Simon appears indifferent to Minnesota's integrity, heritage, and everyday residents. That's why Tad Jude is running for Secretary of State—he supports restoring the original flag and promises to deliver election integrity through:
