Why this petition matters

Started by Roland Johnson
On Tuesday 16th of August the mural in memory of Ian Curtis was removed from its home on Port Street in Manchester.
In it's place will be an advert for the new Aitch album.
Music fans the world over are appalled at the lack of respect shown to the Joy Division legend and would like to plead with the city to reinstate the memorial. Ian, who's image alone is synonymous with Manchester, deserves to be celebrated here permanently.
As one of the greatest song writers of his generation, Ian tragically took his own life on May 18th 1980 after battling Epilepsy and Depression.
His much loved mural was erected to great reception in October 2020, has become iconic and is visited from people all over the world every day.
