As the new school year has begun, we as a community have a duty and obligation to protect people and children walking to and from school everyday. Many parents have risen concerns over drivers who are driving irresponsibly and erratically around the school perimeter that could cause serious injury to innocent bystanders and children. We, the parents are noticing these behaviors more on Clear Fork and Medina streets. Drivers are ignoring crossing guards and just basic rules and traffic laws of the road. Many speeding in a school zone, not cautiously pulling out of a parking spot, on their cell phones while driving, and blocking areas that are designated for the crossing guard. We ask that the school district and local law enforcement come together to assign a police officer at the school to direct traffic and hold people breaking the laws in the school zone accountable for their actions. The community will greatly appreciate it if this issue is taken seriously and our concerns are considered and our wish granted for better regulation of traffic around the school for the safety of everyone!
