Hi,

The early morning hours on the 24th May 2017 were distressing with the news of demise of Evan, a 10 year old boy. We the residents of Thiruvalla were not relieved from the shock of the death of our young brother Evan when we came to know about another accident at Pathanamthitta causing serious injuries to about 22 people. Both the accidents had one thing in common.

An out of control bus belonging to Kerala State Road Transport Corporation. These buses behave as if they are out of bounds of the legal system. They dont obey speed regulations, neither do they know what lane discipline is. They are apathetic to other people on the road. When trying to overtake other vehicles these buses very often push small cars and bikes off the road.

I request the transport minister of Kerala Sri. Thomas Chandy to take quick action to reduce the number of such accidents on road. Some steps may include the following.

  • Installing speed governers and making it mandatory for all buses including private buses.
  • Giving proper orientation and training to the drivers
  • Tracking the driving pattern of drivers and taking strict action against defaulters, by implementing a feedback/complaint registry.
  • Improving the morale of drivers by conducting seminars and explaining to them the importance of their behaviour on road

Let us join hands and ensure that no other life is lost on the road due to road rage and rash driving.
