Residents of Preston Heights (and Shantz Hill to Eagle st) in Cambridge have spent over a year now being affected by the constant construction in our area. From damage and wear and year on vehicles to major bus delays and rerouting because the region decided to do so much construction in the area that we are unable to leave and spend time in our own city without passing through construction.
Currently construction has closed the bridge at Fountain and Blair road, Fountain between Linden and Shantz Hill is closed to non-local traffic, Fountain and Shantz Hill is down to a single lane going in to Cambridge, King St from Fountain to Eagle is just a mess (during peek times it can take 30 minutes or more to get through this area), Speedsville road is closed over the 401 and the 401 is under heavy construction.
All this construction is causing major time delays and damages for travelers (personally having to have had 2 tires replaced, a third needing replacement, a large crack in my windshield and the alignment re-done multiple times).
Even emergency vehicles have difficulty getting through which could prove to be a life and death situation.
Residents are tired of feeling trapped and neglected and something needs to be done.
