I am the mother of 2 adult children who suffer from 7 mental health diagnosis between the two. My fight for mental health change is very public. My 33 year old son who suffers from BiPolar 1 & Schitzlsoeffective disorder have taken my family on an impossible journey looking for answers, including an episode on "The Doctor Phil Show", all ending us up no further along for affordable and effective treatment than the day we discovered their heartbreaking diagnosis. Married for 34 years to a 10x Grammy award winning husband decided that giving up was "Not" an option. We dug in our heels, and became transparent truth warriors to change the laws, get more assistance for families like ours, and erase the stigma that stands in the way of so many who suffer. Focusing our attention to this much needed cause transformed our successful entertainment webcast "The Marla and Dave Show" to a focused weekly mental health podcast "Mental Health Mondays" in partnership with "NAMI" (National Alliance of Mental Illness- SFV chapter). This petition is simple, I now know "EVERYONE" has "SOMEONE" directly affected by a mental health challenge, and I mean "EVERYONE". Together we can insist on coverage that will help treat and not further traumatize those that are desperately looking for treatment!
